Black Panther 3’s Latest Update Is Exciting for MCU Fans

Black Panther 3 has received a positive update that should excite MCU fans.

Ryan Coogler directed the first two movies in Marvel Studios‘ Black Panther franchise: 2018’s Black Panther and 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. A third movie is now in development, but does not have a release date at this time.

What is the latest Black Panther 3 update?

According to a recent article from Variety, “ideas are percolating on a Ryan Coogler-helmed Black Panther 3, creating excitement internally.”

This could mean that Black Panther 3 will arrive sooner than fans are expecting; there’s currently an untitled Marvel movie scheduled to arrive in July 2027, putting it between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, and while it’s only known that this won’t be Jake Schreier’s X-Men movie at this time, it’s possible that Black Panther 3 could fit this spot.

Plot details for Black Panther 3 remain under wraps at this time. Coogler has said that he’s creating a role for Denzel Washington in the film, though it’s unclear who he might be playing.

It is known that Shuri/Black Panther star Letitia Wright will be in Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in December 2026 and is currently in production. Winston Duke’s M’Baku and Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor, the latter of whom was the main villain of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will also star in the film.

Meanwhile, there’s also an animated Black Panther show, titled Eyes of Wakanda, that will debut on Disney+ later this week. Created by Todd Harris, the show is executive produced by Coogler and features a voice cast that includes Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Jona Xiao, Steve Toussaint, and more.

Both Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are currently available to stream on Disney+, while all four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda will be released on August 1, 2025.
