Benedict Cumberbatch has seemingly learned how to go about not spoiling any of the MCU’s future plans when it comes to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
What did Benedict Cumberbatch say about Avengers: Doomsday?
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview, Cumberbatch was asked about whether or he would appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Cumberbatch played coy on purpose, jokingly saying “I wonder” over and over.
For context, Cumberbatch’s comments come after he previously seemed to let it slip that his Doctor Strange would not appear in Doomsday at all. Speaking to Variety earlier this year, Cumberbatch acknowledged the information was a spoiler, but said that Strange “was not aligning with this party of the story,” and that he’d be back for 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
However, Cumberbatch seemed to walk that back. Just a week after his comments to Variety, Cumberbatch told Business Insider that he would actually be in Doomsday after all, and to never listen to what he says about the MCU. Cumberbatch has yet to be officially confirmed for the movie, though, so whether or not Stephen Strange will appear in the film remains to be seen.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives before both of those movies on July 31, 2026.
