AFD to host open house Wednesday as part of Fire Safety week

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the public is invited to the Austin Fire Department’s annual open house from 5-7 p.m.
Visitors will be able to tour the station, meet Sparky the Fire Dog and get the opportunity to:
• Discover, explore and learn
• Take station and truck tours
• Witness an auto extrication demo
• Spray the fire hose
• Dress as a firefighter
• Take part in adult fire extinguisher operation
• And enjoy a refreshment and snack.
• The event is in coordination with Fire Safety Week, which takes place between Oct. 5-11.
