Sydney Sweeney‘s upcoming biographical sports drama, Christy, has finally received its official release date from Black Bear Pictures. In addition, new photos of the Euphoria star’s transformation into the former boxing champion, Christy Martin, have also been revealed.
When is the Sydney Sweeney boxing movie Christy’s release date?
Christy will have its world premiere this Friday at the upcoming 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Afterward, the movie will then arrive in theaters starting on November 7, 2025.
Shared by Vanity Fair, two of the photos featured Sweeney’s character in the ring, teasing the movie’s thrilling boxing sequences. Besides Sweeny, the photos also provided the audience with a first look at Ben Foster as Christy’s husband, James V. Martin, and Chad L. Coleman as legendary boxing promoter Don King. Additional cast members include Merritt Weaver, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Katy O’Brian, and Tony Cavlero.
Christy is directed by David Michôd, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Mirrah Foulkes. The story chronicles Martin’s rise to fame in the boxing world as well as her attempted murder by her husband in 2010. In a previous interview, the Euphoria star opened up about what it was like to go through a physical transformation due to the strict training regimen that required her to do weight training and kickboxing.
Besides Christy, Sweeney will next be seen in Lionsgate’s film adaptation of The Housemaid with Oscar nominee Amanda Seyfried and It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar, and in Ron Howard’s survival thriller Eden with Ana de Armas. In addition, she is also set to reprise her role as Cassie in the long-delayed Euphoria Season 3.
