Watch Scott George and the Osage Singers Perform “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” at 2024 Oscars

Composer Scott George and the Osage Singers performed during the 2024 Academy Awards tonight (March 10). They did a live rendition of “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People),” which appears in Martin Scorsese’s film Killers of the Flower Moon and was created specifically for the movie. George and the Osage Singers dressed in traditional attire for the live rendition, with over a dozen members singing onstage together while collectively banging a drum. Watch it happen below.

George is the first Osage songwriter to be nominated for an Academy Award. “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” is up for Best Original Song this evening, competing with Barbie tracks “I’m Just Ken” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” as well as Becky G’s Flamin’ Hot track “The Fire Inside,” and Jon Batiste’s American Symphony song “It Never Went Away.”

Killers of the Flower Moon is nominated for a number of awards this evening, including Best Original Score (Robbie Robertson), Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Lily Gladstone), Actor in a Supporting Role (Robert DeNiro), Best Director (Martin Scorsese), Cinematography (Rodrigo Prieto), Editing (Thelma Schoonmaker), Production Design (Jack Fisk and Adam Willis), and Costume Design (Jacqueline West).
